Brunswick Valley Landcare and Positive Change for Marine Life invite you to our community planting day. We will enhance resilience by planting 700 native riparian species on private land bordering the Brunswick River.
Positive Change for Marine Life are leading this community driven, ecosystem approach to the recovery and resilience of the Brunswick River. The project will develop community-led restoration programs to protect and support carbon sinks, strengthen catchment resilience, and engage a diverse group of community stakeholders.
The planting site is along a stretch of the Brunswick River on private property. Together with your help, a mix of 700 riparian species will be planted to stabilise and strengthen the bank. The site has recently been fenced to prevent livestock access. A mangrove restoration program is already underway at the site, alongside on-going monitoring of restoration activities and potential co-benefits such as improved riverbank stability and carbon sequestration.
What to bring? Enclosed shoes, hat, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen, gloves and your water bottle.
$5 ticket price goes towards refreshments provided for all planters.
